Good afternoon,

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Galatians 6:9

This could be our motto for the last 15 months.
Paul, the early church guy, writes these words to a group of believers that might have been suffering. Historians do not know for sure. It really depended on the Emperor about how much abuse was done to early Christians. The early Anabaptists, in the 16th century, lived this out as well. Some of the people that put them on trial said they were good people, but they just believed the wrong thing about going to war and swearing to the state.

Other people, outside of our faith communities, should see that we never tire of doing good work. We should always reach out to others who are hurting or suffering. Today ( and yesterday ) MCC had their second on-line quilt sale. There is usually a great gathering of people at New Hamburg, but physical distance does not allow it today. The sale did not raise $300,00 like usual, but over $120,000 was brought in for the work of MCC. Poole had four quilts in the auction. Never tire of doing good things for the world.

PRAYER

Give us a spirit of generosity,

so people of the world will see,

We live in hope and goodness.

O Lord God,

   open up opportunities for us

to give to  relieve suffering in Millbank

as well as in the Congo.   AMEN

Fred
