A New haiku for 2022

January 3, 2022

Chaos in the windsScattering my troubled thoughtsto land on soft clouds.

Monika Pieper Landoni ( December 2021)

Once again Monika has given me a gift of haiku for the next year, 2022. 5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables. Three lines. For me, it is a gift of order for the next year.  But in the order of lines and syllables,  there is opportunity to create and experience a new reality. It is like the game of Scrabble. Always 100 tiles, but always a different game with almost unlimited possibilities. Life as Scrabble.

I was out taking pictures ( a regular occurrence ) in a bush on the south side of Elmira. I liked the way that the sun flowed through the trees. I looked in the saved section of my phone gallery, and the ‘ aura ‘ showed up. I did not see it when I snapped the photo. Maybe a gift for me, the church and the world. I am not good at seeing signs, but maybe this is a sign of God’s care for us all in 2022. I hope you can open the picture at the bottom of this email.

Shirley was invited to select a ” word ‘ for 2022. I think it is a good idea. It is an invitation to be creative and hopeful. I am going to select ‘ serendipity ‘. I am going to have many unexpected moments in 2022. I am not going to say that they are coincidence. Serendipity is about God, creation and humanity. So that is my word.

If you pick a word, what would it be ?

 Prayer

We have entered a new place, and time.

God, be active in the world

   and in our lives,

Speak !        and we will listen. We will be silent.  AMEN.
