Death and Life

April 16, 2021
Good morning/afternoon

It is 9:00 am, and I’m waiting for my mother-in-law’s funeral to begin. It is set to start at 10. If not for COVID, I would be there. Shirley left for Pennsylvania last Saturday. I feel bad for not being there for Shirley. But it was not possible for me to go. Shirley received her Astra Zeneca shot before she left.

It is 9:46. No live streaming yet. I have participated in Zoom/live streaming funerals already, and they have been meaningful. Technology that can link us around the world is amazing. I am thankful. 11:15. The service is over. Familiar songs with familiar preaching. Our sister-in-law Bonnie shared from her heart about Shirley’s mom. We did not see the congregation, only the song leaders, people sharing and the preachers. It is the family and friends that are so important. This is one of the many differences and challenges  during COVID.

Shirley returns on Sunday or Monday. She gets a COVID test today for the border. Pray for her as she drives back to Canada. She will have to isolate from me and the world for two weeks. I am going to live down by the river in my car. Just kidding !!

” My hour has come… ”  Jesus in the Gospel of John  as he knows his death is soon.

Thank you God.
              for walking with us
 until we breathe our last.
Thank you for love,

                              for grace,
      for compassion.  AMEN
