” Chaos in the winds Scattering my troubled thoughts to land on soft clouds. “
As I mentioned earlier, the haiku has an ordered set of boundaries. It is the same for music. You must learn the theory and all the rules before you can play. Then within that structure, you can begin to interpret the notes. With great musicians, when they are playing Bach or Beethoven, they are interpreting the same music, differently. In art, Van Gogh and Picasso painted pictures like everyone else, until they decided to experiment. It was the same, paint, canvas and world, but they painted masterpieces. Same structure, different results.
So, what do you hear, see and touch in the Haiku for 2022 ? Maybe you are not into poetry. You might need hard and fast rules to live your lives. If you receive these rules from the Bible, you still have to interpret them for your lives here in 2022. The structure is there, but the world, the scenery and the church are different from the Bible.
This haiku will lead my prayer life this year. It will accompany me to Winnipeg, and maybe Jordan this year. It will be in my heart, soul and mind, as I read the Bible. It is a gift given to me by a good friend. The words have structure, but allow myself to be creative in the presence of the Almighty. The Holy One. The Ground of my Being.
” Love the Lord your God with your heart, soul and mind,… and love your neighbour as yourself . Matthew 22:37,39
