Merciful

October 23, 2020
Good afternoon

” … once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
1 Peter 2:10

This seems straightforward. Before you were the people of God, you did not know you needed mercy. Your sins might have been out there, and you were not aware that mercy was available. Greek culture and religion had ethics and morality, but some of it was different than that of the Jewish/Christian tradition. God invites mercy through the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ.

When you have mercy, how then shall you act ? You should act justly, love mercy and work for peace in all relationships. If we are given mercy from the divine nature of God, then we should react, and offer mercy to everyone, including our enemies.

We should invite mercy, to the addicts, to the poor, to the persons in jail, and to all the immigrants here in Canada. We are all immigrants. The First Nations are said to have come from Asia thousands of years ago, so they also came for a better life. Does not everyone deserve mercy from us ? The billionaires, the politicians ( like me) and the athletes, as well ?

As I mentioned earlier, this is a letter by the pastor Peter. He wants to let everyone know that they are children of God, and they are receiving mercy at this very minute. Let us lift everyone in our worlds, so that they know they are loved by you and by God.
Grace and peace for our journeys together.
