Saturday October 31, 2020 Good afternoon, I have heard many people talk about the reset that needs to happen in our world. Since the pandemic has been affecting the whole world, people are hoping that we have the opportunity to make the earth a more equitable place. Since I am part of the top five percent in terms of wealth and resources, what will I have to give up ? How can I help the marginalized become more of the mainstream ? A reset would be an enormous change for all of us in Canada, and the world. Since the world needs to change, what must be different in the church ? We have gone mostly to online services. Janet puts together a newsletter every month now. Pastoral care happens over the phone, for the most part. We have a prayer shawl ministry. What should youth and young adult ministry look like today ? In this world of physical distancing, how do invite people to be part of us ? What do you want me to be doing ? ” You have heard it said…. but I tell you…. ” is something Jesus says at least six times in the Sermon On The Mount ( in Matthew 5 ). He is resetting the life of faith. He is saying something different from the Law. What would we say to Jesus, if he rearranged our faith in saying something different today ? It was blasphemous to the leaders of his faith. Are we willing to listen to the Spirit change our minds. I will be 62 in November, so I have long held views. But, I will be open, to the movement of the Spirit. I might have been wrong on some things for over 30 years of my life as a pastor. The Pandemic might just be the right time, to reset the economic, political and religious life of the Church. Are we ready for the roller coaster ride ? Grace and peace for our ( new ) journey of life and faith Fred ![]() Good morning, May you find the Lord of heaven and earth in the rain, the leaves and the dark clouds here in southern Ontario.
