TRILLIUM OF PERFECTION

May 23, 2022

GOOD AFTERNOON

I hope you had a great long weekend.

My favourite flower has emerged once again. The provincial flower, the Trillium . Although, our two favourite spots to view were past their prime time. The white was not as bright and the ends of the tri-petals were fading fast.
But, I find them beautiful anyway. 😍 They do not have to be perfect. I am not perfect. I worry about stuff, things and time. I do not always stand up for injustices in all the places that I should speak up. I want more things than I should want. At times, I covet the things my neighbours, friends and other Canadians have. And, when I say that I am not wealthy, it is a sin. I am not perfect. God is still transforming my being and soul.

How is God perfect ? What does it mean for us to say that God is all powerful and all knowing, and all-thinking. !! In the Gospels, Jesus says that he does not know when he will return for a second time. Jesus is God, so what does it mean for him to not know something ? We are studying Jonah in our Zoom Wednesday meeting. After Jonah is vomited out of the belly of the fish, Jonah goes to Nineveh and announces judgment. The Ninevites repent, and God changes God’s mind. He relents them from punishment .

God changes God’s mind ? Think about it. What does it say about the power of God ? We should be able to change our minds about things, but is it okay for God ? God changes God’s mind ?

Prayer

God, who changed what God was going to do.
     Help us to understand.
help us in our faith, and in our unbelief.       AMEN.
