” Trust, silent enters my fears” ——— from 2021 haiku written by Monike Pieper Landoni
The above statement is from the Haiku 2021. The third line. The last five syllables. With the last 16 months of fear and anxiety, I can identify with the idea here of fears. Fear is always plural. There is not just one fearful thing that enters my mind,. or is it my soul ?
Is fear found in lack of faith ? the first letter of John says. ” Perfect love casts out all fear ” . I know that I do not have perfect love. Fear has a lot of movement to it. You cannot stop them from infiltrating your ( my ) soul and joy. The prophet Isaiah says, ” Fear not, for I have redeemed you. ” . I should not have any fears in my life. At least that is the ideal from the biblical storytellers.
Trust and be silent ! ” Trust and obey , there is no other way “, is what the old hymn says to me. Trust that the future will be good, and healing will come to the whole world. The weather will return. Covid will go away . Families will be reconciled. Cancer will be defeated. And we will meet God, the Ground of our Being. In his final meal with his friends, Jesus says, ” LET NOT YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED, BELIEVE IN ME ” ( John 14 ). PRAYER God, Yahweh, Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer . I will trust I will believe I will try to not fear. but I am human, and broken and a sinner. In this prayer life,I will try to be silent ………… ………
AMEN
